Join us

The Koutsakis Lab hosts graduate students, undergraduates, and postdoctoral researchers, and occasionally visiting scholars from other institutions. Procedures to join the group depend on the position sought.

Graduate Students

Prospective graduate students should apply to UNM’s Mechanical Engineering graduate program (or a closely related department) and list Prof. Koutsakis as a potential advisor. Research is typically carried out by Ph.D. students, though opportunities exist for M.S. students as well. Students already admitted to UNM’s School of Engineering are encouraged to contact Prof. Koutsakis directly to discuss fit. Information on applying is available from UNM Graduate Studies.

Interested students should email Dr. Koutsakis with:

  • Resume/CV
  • A statement of research interests
  • A summary of relevant experience

Postdoctoral Researchers

Interested candidates should email Prof. Koutsakis directly with:

  • Resume/CV
  • A brief description of previous research
  • A list of 2–3 references

Undergraduate Students

UNM undergraduates interested in a part-time research appointment during the semester, or full-time over the summer, should email Prof. Koutsakis with their interest, availability, and year of study.
